What are the key industry networks and associations for the moving and relocation industry?
Below is a summary of the key industry associations for international moving and relocation services. Each has its own accreditation process and Code of Conduct. Most require that members are audited and must pass regulatory, insurance, financial and operational capability checks to retain their membership and accreditations.
Harmony Relocation Network
Harmony Relocation Network is a global network of moving and relocation partners who are required to operate to ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001 and sustainability standards. Gerson Relocation is an accredited member of Harmony Relocation Network.
FIDI is the largest global alliance of independent quality international removal companies. Founded in 1950 FIDI represents the interests of companies specialising in international removals. The FAIM standard is maintained by FIDI’s own FAIM Steering Committee working together with EY to provide a management system that focuses its attention on quality criteria and is recognised by corporate clients around the world. Gerson Relocation is an accredited FIDI member and holds the FIDI FAIM quality certification.
OMNI (Overseas Moving Network International) is a network of the world’s finest corporate moving and relocation companies operating on every continent. It is represented worldwide by organisations that have demonstrated the excellence of their service, their market influence, their financial security and their talent for innovation. The owners and senior managers of OMNI movers are the industry’s thought leaders and their companies are at the core of the global industry. OMNI members are considered to be the benchmark for the global moving industry. They are trusted by the world’s leading corporations, government departments, consular offices and Relocation Management Companies to handle the relocation of staff worldwide. FEDEMAC Federation of European Movers Associations
Established in 1959 and headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany. FEDEMAC’s Governing Members are the National Associations of the European moving industry, the FEDEMAC family includes the best moving companies and suppliers in the moving industry. In total FEDEMAC represents the interests of more than 1,600 professional moving companies in more than 27 European countries.
EuRA, the European Relocation Association, was formed in 1998 with the aim of promoting the benefits of professionally managed relocation and mobility services to companies with globally mobile employees. Originally European focused, the association provides access to a network of accredited immigration, temporary accommodation and relocation destination services providers worldwide. It provides training and qualifications. Gerson Relocation is an accredited EuRA member.
Employee Relocation Council is a network of the world’s relocation, immigration and temporary housing providers. In the US, it provides access to realtors and domestic relocation partners. It also runs accreditations and courses for members.
British Association of Removers (BAR)
The British Association of Removers (BAR) Overseas Group, we operate to its strict Code of Practice which is approved by Trading Standards. This stringent code protects and promotes consumer interests beyond the basic requirements of the law. BAR provides training and qualifications for its members in skills such as surveying. Our UK General Manager serves as Overseas Chairman.
The Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman (FHIO)
We adhere to the British Association of Removers Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme which is independently operated by; The Furniture Ombudsman (FHIO) | www.thefurnitureombudsman.org
IAM International Association of Movers
The International Association of Movers (IAM) is the moving and forwarding industry’s largest global trade association who’s members must comply to its Code of Ethics. With more than 2,000 members, it comprises companies that provide moving, forwarding, shipping, logistics, and related services in more than 170 countries. Since 1962, IAM has been promoting the growth and success of its members by offering programs, resources, membership protections, and unparalleled networking opportunities to enhance their businesses and their brands. PAIMA Pan American International Movers Association
An organisation providing access to vetted and specialist moving and relocation providers covering USA and specifically Latin America. Members are required to adhere to the PAIMA Pledge of Ethics. Gerson Relocation is a registered PAIMA member.
MTC The Movers Trading Club
The Movers Trading Club Ltd is a Foreign (non-USA) based Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) registered with the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), being fully licenced and bonded under FMC Bond No: 027552.
