Tailored Relocation Management From Gerson Relocation
Relocation management services are the end-to-end coordination of corporate employee moves, covering immigration, destination services, household goods shipping, expense management, and settling-in support. A relocation management company (RMC) acts as a single point of coordination between the employer, the assignee, and all third-party service providers, so your mobility team handles one supplier relationship rather than a dozen.
Gerson Relocation has delivered corporate relocation management for over 60 years. We hold FIDI FAIM certification — the international quality standard for moving companies — and operate through the OMNI network of vetted service partners worldwide. If you are evaluating relocation management companies, the sections below explain what our process looks like, where we differ from other RMCs, and what programme types we support.
What Relocation Management Actually Involves
A relocation manager is a dedicated case handler who coordinates every element of an employee’s move, from the initial briefing call through to settling-in support. They act as the single point of contact for both the relocating employee and the employer’s global mobility programme management team, managing timelines, providers, and exceptions.
Each case authorisation we receive will be allocated to one of our experienced Relocation Managers. They will conduct the initial briefing call with your relocating employee and guide and support them throughout their international move. Everything is managed according to your defined policies and designed to ensure an exceptional assignee relocation experience. Employees wanting to understand what to expect from their package can find further information on our employee relocation assistance page.
Corporate relocation management covers considerably more ground than coordinating a removal van. A full programme includes immigration coordination, home search, schooling support, expense tracking, and on-assignment property management. The scope depends on the assignee’s policy tier, but the management structure is the same: one RMC, one process, full visibility.

How Gerson Coordinates Your Relocation Programme
Below is the five-stage process our Relocation Managers follow for every corporate assignment. The sequence is the same whether you are moving five employees a year or five hundred — the difference is scale, not structure.
1. Initial Briefing and Case Authorisation
Once we receive a case authorisation from your mobility team, we allocate a Relocation Manager and schedule the initial briefing call with the relocating employee. That call covers the move timeline, policy entitlements, personal circumstances (partner employment, dependents, schooling needs), and any destination preferences. Everything is recorded against your policy rules — no exception creep.
2. Pre-Assignment Planning and Immigration Coordination
Before any physical move begins, we align immigration, tax, and policy preparation in parallel. We work with approved immigration partners to obtain work permits and visas on a global basis, handle the necessary paperwork for assignees and accompanying family members, and coordinate any required pre-assignment visits, cultural briefings, or language training.
Our panel of independent global mobility advisory specialists supports your team on assignment letters, cost projections, and policy queries. They are not Gerson employees — they are independent advisors we manage on your behalf, which means you access expertise without adding headcount.
3. Destination Services and Home Search
Our destination service partners (DSPs) cover every active corporate relocation corridor. For each location, we hold two or more approved partners whom we have independently assessed. Standard destination services include orientation tours, accompanied home search, lease negotiation, school search, and airport meet-and-greet. Temporary housing is arranged where the move timeline requires it.
If your company has preferred regional providers you already trust, we can integrate them into our management structure rather than replacing them. Your Relocation Manager coordinates all providers through a single workflow — your employee deals with one point of contact regardless of how many suppliers are involved behind the scenes.
4. The Move and Settling-in Process
Once the destination home is secured, we coordinate the full move management process: pre-move survey, packing, transit insurance, shipping (air, sea, or road depending on volume and urgency), customs clearance, delivery, and unpacking. Corporate moving logistics are managed through our own operations and FIDI-accredited partner network.
Settling-in support covers utility connections, property check-in, and on-the-ground assistance for the employee and their family as they acclimatise. On-assignment property management — including tenancy management and maintenance coordination — is available for long-term assignments.
5. Expense Management and Reporting
Through our expense management service, we administer all relocation and assignment expenses on your behalf — reimbursements, supplier payments (rent, storage, school fees, utilities), and relocation allowances. Every transaction is tracked, audited, and reconciled against your policy. We process global payments in local currency and provide a complete audit trail.
Reporting is available in real time through our programme technology. Your mobility team can see case status, cost tracking, and policy compliance across your entire assignment population without waiting for a monthly report.

What Makes Gerson Different as an RMC
The No-Noise Promise
Every RMC says their service is seamless. We made a specific commitment instead. The No-Noise Promise means your mobility team does not hear from us unless there is something that genuinely requires your input. Our Relocation Managers absorb the friction — coordinating between immigration, DSPs, movers, and the assignee — so that queries and issues are resolved at the case level before they reach your inbox.
For a Global Mobility Manager running 50 to 200 cases a year, that difference is material. The noise created by poorly managed cases — chasing updates, mediating between providers, fielding employee complaints — is the primary reason companies change their RMC. Our No-Noise Promise is a named commitment, not a marketing phrase.
Open Supply Chain — Your Preferred Providers, Our Management
Most RMCs operate a closed supply chain: their partners, their pricing, take it or leave it. Gerson works differently. If you have preferred regional providers — a local home search company, an immigration firm you already use, a storage provider in a specific corridor — we integrate them into our management structure rather than replacing them.
You retain the supplier relationships you have built. We provide the coordination layer: briefing, tracking, exception management, reporting, and invoice reconciliation. It is the same single point of contact for your team and your employees, regardless of who is providing the service on the ground.
FIDI FAIM Accreditation and Compliance Standards
Gerson holds FIDI FAIM certification — the international quality standard for moving and relocation companies, independently audited every three years. FAIM certification covers financial stability, quality management processes, and operational standards. It is the due diligence checkpoint that procurement teams use to validate RMC shortlists.
We are also members of FIDI and OMNI, and we apply the Worldwide ERC mobility programme standards as a baseline for policy design. Our global and local legislative compliance is built into every case workflow — not applied as an afterthought.

Programme Structures We Support
Gerson manages employee relocation services across a range of assignment structures. The three most common are described below. If your programme does not fit neatly into one of these categories — group moves, project-based assignments, commuter policies — we scope each engagement individually.
Long-Term Assignments
Long-term assignments — typically defined as 12 months or more in the destination country — require the full relocation management stack: immigration, home search, schooling, household goods, settling-in, and on-assignment property management. Gerson manages these end-to-end, with a dedicated Relocation Manager for the life of the assignment and structured check-ins at 30, 90, and 180 days.
Short-Term and Group Moves
For short-term assignments and group moves where multiple employees are relocating to the same destination within a defined window, we apply a streamlined process that maintains case-level visibility without the overhead of a full long-term assignment programme. Temporary housing coordination, shared orientation tours, and consolidated reporting are standard.
Executive and VIP Relocations
For executive and VIP relocations, the stakes — commercially and for talent retention — are higher. Our VIP service assigns a senior Relocation Manager, provides dedicated temporary housing options, and coordinates bespoke home search and settling-in support. Every element is managed with a discretion and responsiveness standard that reflects the seniority of the assignee.

Technology and Reporting
Our programme platform gives your mobility team real-time visibility of the entire assignment population — case status, cost tracking, policy compliance, and provider performance — in a single view. You can drill down to the individual case level or report across all open assignments by region, policy tier, or cost centre. Read more about our technology and reporting capabilities.
The platform integrates with major HR information systems. If your organisation uses a preferred HRIS or procurement platform, our implementation team works with your IT and HR operations teams to configure the data flows before the first case goes live.

How do you manage relocation?
Corporate relocation is managed in five stages: (1) initial briefing and case authorisation; (2) pre-assignment planning and immigration coordination; (3) destination services and home search; (4) the physical move and settling-in; (5) expense management and reporting. A dedicated Relocation Manager coordinates all suppliers and tracks each stage against your policy.
What is corporate relocation?
Corporate relocation is the process by which a company moves an employee — and often their family — from one location to another as part of a business assignment. It covers everything from immigration and housing search to household goods shipping and settling-in support, all managed within the employer’s relocation policy and budget.
Can Gerson integrate with our existing providers?
Yes. Unlike RMCs that enforce a closed supply chain, Gerson can integrate your preferred regional providers — immigration firms, DSPs, storage companies — into our management structure. We coordinate and track all providers through a single workflow, so your mobility team retains its existing supplier relationships without losing programme visibility.
What accreditations does Gerson hold?
Gerson holds FIDI FAIM certification — the international quality standard for relocation companies, independently audited every three years. We are FIDI and OMNI members and apply Worldwide ERC mobility standards as a programme baseline.
