The corporate relocation team at Gerson Relocation came across an interesting article recently from Relocate Magazine, highlighting the growth of popularity in the UK as a top destination for corporate relocation in 2013.
The article, taken from findings in the fourth Global Professionals on the Move 2013 report, claims that from a survey of 2,000 highly-qualified, high-earning executive professionals around the world, the UK has been voted as the number two destination for corporate relocation after the USA.
According to the report, the UK is increasingly seen as a global technology hub, from statistics undertaken by business school ESCP Europe and specialist recruiter Hydrogen.
The report, which examined the experience, life priorities and attitudes of top-level executives considering working abroad also placed the UK as a number two destination for corporate relocation in legal and life science careers.
Dan Fox, MD of technology practice at Hydrogen, commented:
“The US is still the dominant force, but the UK is definitely on the march. We’re seeing a lot of Europeans coming to work in the UK. It’s all about wanting to work for the up-and-coming companies.”
Other interesting statistics to come from the report included:
83% who had relocated said it had accelerated their careers
73% said that relocation had enhanced their salaries
77% said that relocation had benefited their career prospects
We’re seeing an increase in corporate relocation into the UK, and welcomed the official endorsement of this trend through the report’s findings.
