The Swiss Guard Celebrates 500 Years With Help From Gerson Relocation

Our marketing team have been reviewing some of the most interesting and unusual relocation projects Gerson have managed in recent years – and one of those must surely be this one.
In May 2006 the world’s oldest army regiment, The Swiss Guard which formed in 1506, was 500 years old. Celebrations for the event were held in the Vatican and The Honourable Artillery Company, the second oldest army regiment founded in 1537, was invited to take part. Gerson Relocation was entrusted with the removal of The Honourable Artillery Companies effects to and from the Vatican which included pikes, muskets, uniforms and musical instruments.

The Gerson Relocation truck was loaded at the barracks in City Road, London. The truck travelled via the Channel Tunnel with a police escort from the Italian border to the Vatican.

The final salute by The Honourable Artillery Company as The Swiss Guard leaves at St. Peter’s Square was also captured by our relocation experts in London on the day.

As a leading domestic relocation company in London, the Gerson teams have conducted some prestigious domestic moving projects in the past – including royalty, politicians, and show-business stars. We’re equally as proud of our domestic clients in London, across the UK, and abroad.
